Wisdom of the Ancestors

At Ancestral Tears, I honor the healing wisdom passed down through generations. My mission is to guide you on a transformative journey towards emotional well-being and finding your wellness and empowerment.

What is intergenerational trauma?

People experiencing intergenerational trauma may experience symptoms, reactions, patterns, and emotional and psychological effects from trauma experienced by previous generations. If you live with chronic stress or have lived through a traumatic event, certain responses activate to help you survive—these are known as trauma responses. Although these responses are helpful for short-term survival, being in that “survival mode” headspace is harmful to both physical and mental health in the long term. Not only does your brain store memory, but your body keeps memory by how it responds, and reacts to stress, touch, and emotions. In order to understand intergenerational trauma, it is important to acknowledge the impact of what our ancestors before us faced.

When trauma is left untreated or unrecognized, it can turn into sickness within our body, certain health conditions or addictions, violent outburst and even harm those we love most, unintentionally and intentionally.  Ancestral tears believes that in healing ourselves, we must recognize our own ancestors tears - and in understanding where the trauma root comes from, we are then able to build a life not centered around trauma responses, but of peace and empowerment.

There is so much wisdom in understanding our ancestors and our roots. We hold space here for truth and authenticity, with no shame. We hold space for your truth, and your wisdom, and all people are welcome into Ancestral Tears groups.

My Offerings

Red Road to Wellbriety

This is a group for all people seeking recovery through traditional native practices. Originated from the book "The red road to wellbriety- study guide" from Don Coylis.  This group follows the teachings of the Native American Medicine Wheel and 12 Step Tradition. The Red Road to Wellbriety is a book of healing that is culture-specific to Native Americans, but it may be used by all people. This group follows the guidance of this book, in doing the 12 steps in a traditional format to help those seeking wellbriety from addictions.

My Approach

Cultural Respect

Cultural respect is fundamental to my healing practice. We honor and integrate cultural traditions, ensuring a culturally affirming and respectful experience.

Compassionate Guidance

Compassionate guidance is at the heart of my approach. my groups and events provide a nurturing and understanding space where you can feel heard, validated, and supported throughout your healing journey.

Healing should be offered to everyone, regardless of if they are financially stable or not. This is why I offer so many free services, to provide opportunity for all.

Inclusive spaces

I am committed to providing customized healing experiences. This means I respect that each of us has our own individual journey and history. I offer my services for all people, of all races and genders. My goal is always to be sure that people can feel included, heard and safe - especially when working with adults who were raised in households where they never felt safe, heard or appreciated.

Community Stories

"I have been around Ancestral Tears services for years and I've personally witnessed first-hand the impact that this service has given people. I've seen the love and dedication that Desnee has. I highly recommend these services to everyone seeking unconditional love."

Adrian. S

"You have helped me in so many ways, it's hard to put into words. You are an advocate of women's issues and I respect that you have gone on to embrace your own recovery."

Michelle. S

"As a social worker, I have referred my clients to Ancestral Tears for trauma support. I am extremely picky with who I refer my young people to - and I have only had positive feedback and results from the people I have directed to Desnee. I am hopeful that more agencies will invite these services when working with recovering addicts and offering an inclusive space that includes all people.
